/!\All the information in this presentation is not yet in the game but will be present once the game is finished!/!\
In Fisherman's Island, you play as a young aspiring fisherman who dreams of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a master of fishing. However, during your initiation, you realize that all the fish in the ocean have mysteriously disappeared, leaving your people in a state of emergency: how to survive without food or resources?
"Fisherman's Island" is an RPG exploration game offering both third-person and first-person perspectives (you can switch between the two viewpoints). Discover the reason behind the disappearance of the fish by exploring the island's ancient tombs and unveiling all their secrets.
Throughout your adventure, a multitude of activities will be available to you! You can craft items from the resources you've collected, cook dishes using ingredients gathered from plants and the ground. Your character's skills, such as movement speed, fast swimming, and inventory capacity (among others), will progressively improve as you gain experience.
Numerous puzzles will be scattered throughout the world of "Fisherman's Island." These puzzles will regularly punctuate your adventure and reward you with consistently captivating items or surprises.
Explore the Luga Bay, which is filled with secrets to uncover!
New Game:
Once you've pressed the 'New Game' button from the main menu, the game will prompt you to give a name to your character. This is the name by which all the villagers will address you! There are also plans to allow you to customize your character's appearance, including clothing color and hairstyle, to make the character in Fisherman's Island uniquely yours!
The base character in Fisherman's Island (pre-alpha version, the appearance is subject to change
You will begin your adventure in your house.
It's in your house that you can rest and store equipment. You can also decorate it as you like! (Alpha visual, appearance subject to change).
Behind your house, there is a garden filled with secrets, customizable (with plantings, for example). These plantings will be used for cooking.
It is also in your house where you can sleep, either to pass the days or sleep until certain hours (skip the day or pass the night).
From the beginning, go and see the island's residents to start the first quests!
Once the quest is accepted, it will appear in your quest journal, depending on whether it's a main story quest or a side quest.

Your player character is called by the name you entered when creating your new game. It can also have the appearance you've given it (clothing color, hair, etc.).
Your character is 18 years old and is set to inherit the boat of their parents, both of whom went missing at sea when they were young. Eric, one of their parents' closest friends, took care of their upbringing. However, it's discovering what happened at sea that will truly kickstart their adventure.

Your character will also have statistics that can evolve over time by exploring the world, cooking dishes, completing rituals, or finishing quests. Your character's statistics will be accessible from the in-game inventory menu.
Statistics menu (it's not final, many other aspects will be added later in development).
By default, your character trots, but they can run faster when needed. An automatic sprint function will be implemented to allow for traversing large areas without getting finger cramps!
However, the ground won't be the only means of getting around! Underwater exploration will also be possible, both around the island and in the sea. Speaking of the sea, you can also take your boat and sail around the island to uncover secrets, visit the communities around Luga Bay, and even discover procedurally generated islands!
Secrets will be hidden at the bottom of the ocean! Will you find them all?
Underwater caves will also be there to explore! Grab your flippers, and let's go!
Beyond the ground and the sea, there's also the underground and the air! The underground of Luga Bay is filled with caves and temples to explore! Watch out for the lack of light!
Hidden entrances scattered all around can lead you to the underground of Luga Bay!
The underground temples are filled with puzzles. You better solve them if you ever hope to see the sunlight again!
Example of a puzzle in the tombs: place a barrel on a switch. However, enjoy the simplicity while it lasts, because it won't be that easy for long!

As mentioned earlier, it will also be possible to travel through the air to visit the Argentian people. They are a people who live on floating islands, the Argent Isles.

To travel from the ground to the Argent Isles, the Argentians have tamed Perexides, large aquatic birds capable of carrying a human on their back along with luggage. One of the most efficient means of transportation in the region.

You'll be able to play Fisherman's Island using your keyboard and mouse, as well as with a controller (except for pre-alpha and alpha testing).
There are plans to allow customization of controls to fit your gaming preferences (e.g., changing the "interact" key from "F" to "E," for instance).
As in any game, you can always check the keybindings through the pause menu or from the main menu.
Once in the game, your user interface will display two bars: health and energy. Health is essential for dungeons, where some monsters can deal damage to you unless you introduce them to your sword first!
As for the energy bar, it gradually depletes as time passes (even when stationary). In both cases (health and energy), you need to rest or eat dishes (or potions) to partially or fully replenish them.
It's also useful to know that penalties can apply, especially with energy. If it's too cold or too hot, your energy will deplete faster. If there's a storm in the area, your energy will also have penalties. But there can be bonuses, like with the lemon, which, when eaten, provides an energy and speed boost for a few seconds, convenient, right?
The user interface with the health and energy bars is located at the bottom right of the screen.
There are four ways to improve your character:
Completing quests:
The quests offered by villagers and other people you can meet will, once completed, provide you with items as well as XP, which will gradually improve your character's statistics.
The accumulated experience will be used to improve the character's statistics.
Collecting items:
The items you can find while exploring the world can give you advantages in certain situations. For example, with the corrupted areas in the Shadowwood Forest. These corrupted areas appeared a few days before the start of your adventure, and they are to be avoided because even sunlight remains blocked. No one knows what's happening inside, but it's possible that an item could make it easier to traverse them. Certain foods, like lemons for example, can provide you with energy and increased movement speed advantages for a short period.

Recovering relics:
During the main quest, you will find relics, which contain a variety of secrets, including improvements for your character and your equipment.

Obtaining blessings from runes:
Rune stones are hidden all over Phalania; they will grant you temporary or permanent bonuses. But be cautious, beneath every improvement, there could be a drawback!
